Non-arabic numerals?

Is it possible to get Zotero to translate arabic numerals to non-arabic ones? For example, some Japanese publications require page numbers written in Chinese characters, like this:

四○四~四○五頁 which would be p.404-405 in English.

It's a simple 1-to-1 mapping between Arabic and Chinese numerals. Can this be done using locale tricks?
  • afaik Zotero just knows Roman and Arabic numerals, so no.
  • When I get to it, I'd like to tweak CSL-m (for MLZ) to implement these. There would be several conversions. For the number 231...

    二三一
    二百三十一
    弐百参拾壱
    231
  • It would be great if this were to be applied to the edition field. Many (if not most) Library Catalogs use the native (cjk, dunno about others) numerals when saving edition info.

Depending on the citations style this info needs to be converted. Making the client aware of cjk numerals and the proper conversion, would be a nice tweak.

Page numbers in titles with multiple fascicles (卷) might be something worth to keep in mind as well. Technically speaking volumen ≠ fascsicle, maybe it should be in the zot client....just food for thought.
  • Support in translators will be a separate thing. We could add a utility function, it would be up to individual site translators to call it on specific fields. This (support in CSL-m) will be a first step toward that. Will probably get this in place in early January.
