Seamonkey/Iceape compatibility

For those people like me that still use Seamonkey (Debian: Iceape) is there any chance that you will support this browser. The current versions are really just existing Firefox and Thunderbird combined so many other addons work. I use several. When I try to install Zotero I get a message after activating the install button that "install script not found". Is this readily fixed?
  • It isn't readily fixable. SeaMonkey does not yet have the SQLite database that Zotero needs & also requires installation scripts in extensions. There are plans to eventually "toolkitize" SM & this will go a long way to making firefox extensions work with it. However, it may still be some time before SeaMonkey will support extensions like Zotero.
  • Thanks for the quick and informative response!
  • Is this still true? Zotero appears in the list of seamonkey extensions at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/seamonkey/addon/3504, but does not install, saying "install script not found."

Please, please tell me it will work with seamonkey now :-). I shall be eternally grateful.
  • It is still true & SeaMonkey has only received minor/security updates since last year & no new feature or major architectural changes.

Unfortunately, addons.mozilla.org makes it possible to make it look like any extension will work in any of their tools:

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/sunbird/addon/3504
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/3504

    etc.

Using the 'search' or browse functions on their site will usually not lead to these cases. If you found it through their site, you should report it to them (but if you found it through google or some other third-party site, I don't know how much they will do in the immediate future to fix this kind of thing).
  • Seamonkey 2.0 (alpha 2; but it's very stable, I use it for everything) is toolkit based.

Any idea when the zotero plugin may work with it?
    Thanks

A couple of years later, here comes the full of hope question:
Is it sensible to hope that sm will support Zotero or is it still a little bit too early? As Shankargopal said: I shall be eternally grateful.

As far as I understand what I read here and there, Firefox and Seamonkey are still sharing some characteristics: same core, same engine Gecko and some common files. Up to which point, I do not know. As I am not an expert, this information is approximate. I would apologize for misleading. I tried with the most recent version of Zotero. It failed. I hope one day, Zotero would be compatible with Seamonkey. Many thanks, anyway!
