An error occurred saving with . . .

When saving a webpage in Safari to Zotero, I often get something like the following message:

"An error occurred saving with Substack. Attempting to save using Embedded Metadata instead."

But the snapshot seems fine. It just doesn't include the actual title of the page. Also, the message doesn't usually disappear.

Can anyone say why this is happening? It may be a Safari-only issue. I prefer to keep using Safari, since it is my default browser, I do most of my work on it, and going back and forth between Safari and Firefox is a lot of extra work. Is there a way to fix the problem in Safari?

And is refreshing the easiest way to get rid of the error message?

1) We always need specific URLs for saving problems.

2) That error message isn't about the snapshot (i.e., the attachment with a copy of the page contents), if that's really what you mean — it's about the translator being used to save the data, and it's saying that Zotero's Substack translator isn't working on the page you're saving from.

On doing some further testing, I believe I get failure generally with Substack pages, not just Safari. Practically speaking, if the Substack translator isn't working properly, what can be done?

Do bear in mind that most of these Substack webpages are under subscription. So you yourself likely won’t be able to view them, and I’m not sure whether the pages’ being under subscription would affect the ability of Zotero to translate.

Fixed! Thanks for reporting. Your Zotero Connector should auto-update within 24 hours, or you can update manually by clicking Update Translators in the Advanced pane of the Zotero Connector preferences.

Looks like they removed the structured metadata that we were using from the page. We'll see what we can do.
