Export the entire library with PDFs attachment included
Hi,
I am trying to erase my Mac and reinstall everything. I exported my library with a Zotero RDF file, and when I did it, I checked the "Export files" and "Included Annotations" boxes. I expected that would export all the things (parent meta-data, and children PDF flies under one reference). However, after I erased my Mac and imported the RDF file into the "new" Zotero, only the meta-data (information about the reference) were present. Under the meta-data, there were some HTML files, but no PDFs were present.
PDFs were linked to the reference, as there was the PDF icon under each reference, and I was able to open the PDF file by double clicking the icon within Zotero.
Luckily I backed up my entire Mac, and so I was able to retrieve all the information. But I do need to erase it shortly to tackle other problems. Please advice. Thank you!
(I have checked this https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/65901/export-with-pdf-attachments, and it was not helpful.)
(A couple years ago when I exported the entire library from my Windows to Mac, PDFs were included and able to be imported.)

But an export is not a backup, and you shouldn't try to use it that way. If you have a backup of your Zotero data directory — which is what an actual backup is — you should restore from that.
