@chchaitanya: You should make sure you actually have 1.21.74, and report this to Brave if you're still having trouble without a customization. The release notes for 1.21.74 specifically say it fixes this bug:
Fixed issue where some extensions did not work properly.
A related point: Am using Brave 1.26.74 (Windows x64). Neither does the Cntr-Shift-S shortcut work, nor does the Zotero icon (button) show up in the toolbar on top.
UPDATE: I got fooled by the style of Brave where it hides all extensions under the extension icon, and one has to click on the extension icon and choose to 'pin' specific extension, after which they become visible in the menu bar.

Open a new tab and this should fix the connector.
