Error: Update Loop Error number 55931236

Hello,
Frequently I am notified of an update for zotero, almost every day. I click update and am given an message: "The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Zotero running on your computer, and then restart Zotero to try again." OR Zotero is not running, but it is running.
  • Sorry, I am running Mac OS 10.13.6 and Zotero 5.0.54. Yet a third problem has appeared. I click on update, it goes to update, says "connecting to the update server" but it just hangs, there is no progress. The update version that sometimes appears in the software center is 5.0.55 I believe.
  • Restart your computer, load Zotero, and try Help → "Check for Updates…".
  • Thanks. I did that. When I do "connecting to the update server" appears but there is no connection. Have tried that 5 times, including after rebooting.
  • Are you on an institutional network? Can you still make other network requests in Zotero (e.g., submitting an error report or syncing)?
