Communication error word and firefox, but i use google chrome

Word could not communicate with Zotero. Please ensure that Zotero or Firefox is open and try again, that is the error that i get. But i don't have firefox installed on my mac, i use google chrome connected to Zotero. Does anybody know how to fix this error and connect google chrome to your zotero so i don't get the error? It happends when i click on the Add/Edit Citation button in Word (also the other buttons).

Do you have Zotero Standalone running when that error comes up? Which version of Word, which operating system?
(The message is just outdated; it should say Zotero instead of Firefox)

what do you exactly mean with standalone? my english is not that good. I use a mac, and word 2016.

Just Zotero the software (not the Chrome Extension) -- is that running? What version of it?

My zotero software is opened, in google chrome and also the programma zotero. It's version 5.0.23

OK, that's all in order, then. Try re-installing Word integration from the "Cite" tab of the Zotero options, see if that helps.

I have clicked on the button 'reinstall libreoffice Add-in' and succesfully complete what they say, but when i click on 'add/edit citation' i still get: Word could not communicate with Zotero. Please ensure that Zotero or Firefox is open and try again.

Can it has something to do with that my word account is form my dad, and my google chrome account is linked to me? the Word is on my computer but he purchased the office package.

No, that wasn’t the correct button—click the Reinstall Word Add-in button.

For me there only is a 'reinstall LibreOffice button, when i go ti Zotero and than 'Cite'..

Check under Tools--> Addons in Zotero. "Zotero Word for Mac Integration" should be listed. I'm guessing it's disabled -- click on enable, restart Zotero, make sure this is still enabled, then check again under Cite -- you should now be able to re-install Word components, too. Do that, then test in Word again.

When i go to add-ons i only see: zotero libreoffice integration. I can disable that extention. Is there a possibility that i add a word intergration here?
There is a little option weel in the right corner, where i can click: Install add-on from file. Can i get the Word integration here?

We typically don't recommend this, but could you re-download and re-install Zotero? Won't affect your database.
(And no, disabling LO Integration or installing the add-on manually are not options here)
