• Issue confirmed on Zotero 5.0.17. I get a saving to My Library popup but it just stays at that for many minutes until I refresh or close the web page.

BTW, do browser connectors have a version number independent of Zotero, and if yes, where do I find that information?

Yes -- it's listed in the connector in the Chrome extension lists (chrome://extensions/ ) or in the Firefox addons (about:addons)

edit -- it's currently also 5.0.17; pretty sure that's coincidence.
  • I can confirm the problem on Zotero 5.0 however it works on Zotero 4.0 (I only tried the first url). Here is a debug ID from the Firefox connector 5.0.17: D1904210576

I analyzed it as follows: In the Amazon translator, the LoC ISBN translator is called, resulting in a xml with 0 results in this example, which will then be passed to the MARCXML translator, which then calls the MARC translator. The innermost translator is finishing without any items, but somehow the other translators are not aware of this. Not sure how to solve...

I am not sure, @dstillman would know more.
  • I am having a different but related problem. All of my Amazon saves end up as "webpage" saves rather than book saves. So I end up with unpopulated undifferentiated web pages (not at all useful) rather than bibliographic entries. Are others having this problem? It's a major issue for me since Amazon is a major source of book citations for me.
  • I'd generally recommend library catalogs over amazon as a source for importing books, but obviously this shouldn't be happening -- we'd need a couple of sample URLs where this isn't working. Also, do other pages (e.g. Worldcat) work for you?
  • Generally, I would too, but my library (UW Madison) no longer saves to Zotero either, other than as "Webpage with Snapshot."
Not sure if you can access this because it's UW:https://search.library.wisc.edu/catalog/999702317702121
This is consistent behavior. It did work under previous versions.

    Here's the relevant Amazon page:
    https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=schudson+watergate
But when I went back to it, it *did* work. Odd.
Worldcat did work just now when I checked.
    Thank you.
  • OK. If it doesn't work again in the future, first just try restarting Chrome. If that doesn't help, provide a debug ID from the Chrome Connector for loading or reloading the page in question:

  • Hi!
Just want to indicate that the issue from my original message still persists. I have checked it again today.
    Thank you.
