@dstillman : The "Get Zotero" link on the Connector page is broken (/downloads)

By the way, why don't you use the name "connectors" within the URL (i.e. zotero.org/connectors). Even if a connector is technically an extension, I think it would be more consistent (for example, see the three headers at the bottom of https://www.zotero.org/download/ : "Client"/"Connectors"/Extend").

Same remark for the new string "Install Browser Extensions…". As a localizer, I was not sure what it was referring to (third-party plugins ?).

OK, changed to "Install Browser Connectors…" and /download/connectors. (The page will be moved later.)

The connector terminology is a bit tricky, and depends on context — it's important to communicate that they're browser extensions while also conveying what they do and differentiating them from the previous Firefox extension.

May I also suggest you move this option to the "Tools" menu, under "Add-ons"? I think this would make more sense.

[And FWIW, I'm a bit embarrassed by the plural form of "connectors".
I know each browser has its own connector, but I don't think the vast majority of people are using more than one browsers. A common user just want to install a connector in its browser. What about something like "Install a Connector in/for your browser"?]

This discussion taught me a lesson that something that works in one language (English or French) might be horrible for another one. There is no good word for connector in Turkish (except for "konektör", which is an odd French borrowing), so now I am scratching my head about choosing to use one of many made-up words as a localizer.

The word for extension in Turkish (which is also odd, to be honest) would at least be familiar to all users, and they would actually know these are browser extensions. A "connector" can be anything, and may lead to many scratching their heads. I think this needs to be clarified.

I think it's a little weird to have something that's just a link to the website in Tools, since all the rest of those are in the Help menu, but we can try it. (On macOS we'd really like to put it in the application ("Zotero") menu, since that's where most applications put stuff like this (e.g, "Install Browser Extensions…" in 1Password), but we're not able to modify that menu in the current framework.) We've renamed it "Install Browser Connector" (no 's', no ellipsis) and moved it above "Add-ons" under Tools.

I don't think using "your" in a menu option is really appropriate — or, at least, I don't think I've ever seen that before.

@enozkan: That's an interesting question. There's a case to be made that this should either be the equivalent of "Install Browser Extension" in non-English locales (which would actually mean something to users, but, as Gracile notes, be somewhat ambiguous) or should actually use the English word "Connector" — e.g., "Install le Connector du navigateur", not "Installer le connecteur du navigateur". While it's a foreign word, "Zotero Connector" is the official name of the product, and as you say, the generic "connector" doesn't really mean anything outside of that context.

I actually agree with your comment about "your" in a menu option.

@enozkan : Same case in French, as explained by Dan. Anyway the translation has to be consistent with the other string containing "Connector" (in zotero.properties, with the key: connector.error.title).
In French, eventually : "Installer le Connecteur Zotero dans le navigateur" (it's not concise, but clear hopefully).
