zotero does not appear in toolbar - or applescript

Okay. I figured it out. I had to go to "go" in finder, the home folddeer, view options, make library visible all the time, and now I have modified the path.

Now I will restart and see if anything is there.

It worked. there is now an add-ins tab in word, and zotero icons are there. Thank you. That is great. Why is this so hard, though, I wonder?

Now I would like to use shortcuts so I don't have to hit that add in tab. Are there shortcuts zotero has created (I thought there were in previous versions), or do I need to make my own?

you need to make your own. The existing ones were a by-product of apple script integration.

This is hard because Microsoft has completely mangled the startup folder in Word 2016. This wouldn't just affect Zotero but any other macro-based workflow. The fact that a clean install lists a Word 2011 startup folder is just bizarre.

adamsmith: This doesn't happen for everyone, does it? I assumed it was some bug that caused Word to keep the non-sandboxed setting in this case.

To echo adamsmith's comments (above), there are many, if not zillions, of comments on other software support sites concerning the mess Microsoft made on what should have been a simple software installation.

I have seen lots of complaints about this affecting other software. The complaints center around retained pointers to the directory of the previous Word version.

no, it doesn't happen for everyone, thankfully. It's still bad that it can happen.
The other thing we get a lot (and that I've oriented the troubleshooting to) is that no startup folder is active at all. I'm not sure it's possible to do that during the add-on install (you'd have to ask Simon).
