Inserting Zotero in-text citations on computer without Zotero

Sometimes I have to work on a machine that doesn't have Zotero, and I'm wondering if there's a way to insert in-text citations into a word document in that context (e.g., is there a code I can enter, or insert a custom field that the Zotero add-in will recognize when I'm back on a machine withe the add-in and Zotero)?

Thanks.
  • no, sorry. Might happen in the long term, but not any time soon.
  • I do the following:

for items with a doi or isbn I enter something like: (!XQX! insert identifier - brief note to self)

I email the document fragment to myself.

When I'm back to a computer with Zotero I paste the fragment into the master document and search the document for the unlikely string "(!XQX!"

I use the identifier in Zotero's magic wand field to add the item.

I can then search the master document again, delete the nonsense string and identifier, and insert the reference from Zotero.

The process probably sounds much more tedious than it really is.
