[beta] occasional "There has been an error. Restart Zotero"

Error ID: 1351115454
This is probably not going to help much, but since it has happened a couple of time since about the 4.0.22 release I thought I'd mention it. I'm getting the above error (in the middle Zotero pane). Restarting Firefox fixes things, so it's not a big deal and I don't know how to reproduce it (and I have a gazillion other add-ons installed, so that's another variable), but just in case that
[JavaScript Error: "State check failed due to transaction in progress"]
tells you something.

Been getting similar crashes about twice a day since the 4.0.22 release. Most recently happened after editing a tag in the right pane then clicking a different item in the middle pane.
  • occured again same error:
[JavaScript Error: "State check failed due to transaction in progress"]

This time after moving multiple items to trash.

For that error, the relevant action is usually the action that preceded the one that appears to trigger the error. (So in bwiernik's case, the relevant action wouldn't be clicking on the item but rather whatever came before — editing a tag or something else, possibly in the backend.)

I'll see if I can reproduce this, but otherwise really the only way to debug this is via debug output. So if this happens frequently enough, you could leave debug output logging running and the pref window open and periodically clear the output, and then as soon as this occurs send in a report.
  • OK, I'll see what I can do.

Might be a coincidence, but for what it's worth, the only reports we've seen of this are from people with ZotFile installed, and one was specifically about annotation extraction:

So if you're still getting this regularly, try disabling ZotFile and see if that makes a difference. (It very well might not.)
