Standalone will not work with LibreOffice Writer on Ubuntu 11.04

I have been trying to get Zotero working with LibreOffice in hopes of moving away from VirtualBox + MS Office + Endnote, but cannot get citations to work with LibreOffice.

I am using Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit, Google Chrome Beta (12.0.742.30-r84361), the Zotero Chrome Extension, and the Zotero Standalone Alpha.

The buttons are showing up in LibreOffice Writer, the Chrome extension is working (at least with google scholar), but every time I try to insert a citation I get:

"Firefox could not load the component required to communicate with your word processor. Please ensure that the appropriate Firefox extension is installed and try again."

Report ID: 1796526265

[JavaScript Error: "[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE) [nsIJSCID.getService]" nsresult: "0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/integration.js :: _callIntegration :: line 325" data: no]" {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/integration.js" line: 325}]

I have removed IcedTea, set Sun Java as default, and my cite preferences are:

UNO Directory: file:///usr/share/libreoffice/basis-link/ure-link/share/java/
soffice Directory: file:///usr/lib/libreoffice/program/

I have tried with the browser open, closed, restarted Zotero, LibreOffice, and the browser multiple times with the same result.

I did manage to import my Endnote references but that is as far as I've been able to get.

I really appreciate the development efforts, it would be fantastic to get this up and running!

    I have run into the same problem on a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit, Chromium Stable Build 11.0.696.68 (84545), the Zotero Chrome Extension, and Zotero Standalone Alpha.

    UNO: file:///usr/lib/libreoffice/basis-link/ure-link/share/java/
    soffice Directory: file:///usr/lib/libreoffice/program/

    Otherwise I have had great success with importing citations from various websites (including my university library), and am very thankful for the standalone version.
  • a new standalone version will be out shortly - keep your eyes out for that and see if that changes things - if it doesn't come back and someone - likely Simon - will try to figure this out with you.
  • Thank you! I'll look out for that.
