Adding metadata without snapshot

When I am looking at a journal article abstract and click the "Add to zotero" button in the url bar, it adds a "snapshot" of the website. Is there a way to just add a library item containing the article metadata, but without the snapshot (which I almost never need)? I know I could just go delete the snapshots, but that gets cumbersome after a while.

    Turn off the snapshot pref in the General pane of the Zotero preferences.

    In the future we might make Shift toggle the snapshot pref for URL-bar saving, as it does for the Create New Item from Current Page button.
