Zotero does not sync in University desktop (installed and updated with admin rights)

  • You have your data directory in OneDrive -- that's generally a bad idea and also likely the reason for the file sync errors (something is preventing normal file operations by Zotero, and Id guess that's OneDrive related)
  • Basically, our university's ICT support solved the issue by renaming the Zotero profile folders located in:

    C:\Users\username\AppData — both in the Roaming and Local directories.

    After doing this, Zotero automatically created a new profile folder.

    So if something is corrupted or misconfigured in the local or synced profile, the profile is effectively rebuilt, which resolves the problem.
