Is there any way to get the "classic" citation mode back?
Recently the method of inserting citations seems to have changed, which seems to have removed the "classic" option which has been replaced with some new system.
However the classic mode is much quicker and more intuitive to use than the replacement, especially for multiple citations.

It would be best if you could describe the issue you're having, so that you can be given an explanation of any details you may not be aware of, or eventually improve it.
You can find some details on the page @poettli recommends.
One issue I had is that after searching for articles, when you click on the citation to add it to the list, the search is lost and you need to search again. This is annoying if you want to move multiple items over from the same search.
It seems that you can actually do it without the search being lost though by clicking on the green "+ in a circle" icons but this to me was not obvious. In the classical pane the red arrow like icon seemed more intuitive, i.e. it was clear it moves items from the library on the left to the right hand list. From my perspective the change has just caused some hassle working out the new way to do it, if I could avoid it I would have, hence the question.
There is another semi-related issue - the left hand pane showing the library tree is still far too narrow and cannot be resized. This means that folders deep down the tree cannot be seen and their titles cannot be read if you wish to navigate manually through the tree to find a suitable folder.

But this is a longstanding issue I raised a while ago:
