article number instead of article pages

hello
Some meticulous publishers prefer to not use the page numbers metadata to indicate an electronic article number. They use other metadata such as eid (electronic id) or article number or dc.Identifier. In that case Zotero does not import this metadata which is a problem, and logically leaves the page number empty.
Could Zotero import this metadata?
In the case I refer to, the metadata in the html source is "dc.Identifier" and the importable bibtex ref includes a "eid" field
An exemple there:

Thanks

I do not know how the Embedded Metadata translator works on this page, but the article number is missing from the RIS export format:

So the publisher could also fix the metadata here.
  • indeed! thanks
  • you're right @mjthoraval, thanks, Ris and ENDNOTE export are incomplete in my example.
But I think that Zotero does not use RIS and ENDNOTE export metadata to import data. It more probably use meta tags such as dublin core, or google meta tag in the html code.
  • dc.identifier isn't used for eid/article number reliably enough to use on import. It's more commonly (and in some ways more appropriately) used for the DOI, which of course is a better identifier than "e8" -- since that gets imported already via citation_doi, Zotero just ignores the field. I'm not convinced that trying to get too complicated with the logic here makes sense. I'm also not sure it's actually beneficial to add an eid in the citation here rather than just cite the work by DOI, which of course identifies it uniquely (I know they add this under their "How to Cite," but why?
  • ok, I understand, thanks
