Citation style: CMOS plus day format

I use zotero a lot and am finally running into a formating issue for a new book project. I basically need a style similar to CMOS 17 full note (place and publisher, no abbreviatoins in autor names) BUT also a possibility to show exact dates for periodical articles incl. volume and number. So basically CMOS 17 plus either day - month year for journal articles or volume and issue for newspaper/magazine articles. I would be fine with any of those solutions.

I tried to change some parameters in the csl file but failed.

Can you either suggest some styles that might match the description or what to change in the csl file to add either the day to journal article or volume and number to newspaper/magazine articles?

Thanks a lot!
  • I mostly follow, but could you provide examples of what you want specifically so we don't have to go back&forth on the details?
  • Sorry for being unclear. I will add a few examples. This is for a book project so I am talking about many footnotes. Hence I would prefer a fully automated version.

As for books, edited volumes etc. CMOS 17 is perfect. It shows all data I need, including both publisher and publishing place (in difference to CMOS 18).

I am, however, working with historical articles in journals or papers where the precise citing matters so that they can be found later. Think of war time or exile press with imprecise numbering etc. so that any available information is actually helpful. Hence, I would need something like this (CMOS 17, journal article with day added by hand, German language setting):

    Léon Blum, „Racisme a rebours“, Le Populaire 22, Nr. 5.997 (19. Juli 1939): 1.

Alternatively I could format them as a magazine article. This would display the date including the day but leave out voume and issue.

So I am either looking for a way to alter the CMOS style to my own version (I tried and failed) or pick another citation style which miraculously displayes the data just as I need it.

Generally, I am talking aout the data presented in a footnote, not the format, punctuation, etc. which are of lesser relevance to me.
