Omitting edition field for 1st eds. in Chicago?
Hi,
Not sure if this has been posted about before (I couldn't find anything on the forums, but apologies if it has) -
Really more of a mild gripe than anything, but I've noticed recently that in the absence of a specifically indicated edition number, a lot of translators for books will mark them as the first edition (even where no other editions of the book exist). In turn, when the citation is exported from Zotero, it includes a pesky little "1st ed.", despite the fact that CMOS 14.15 seems to suggest the edition should be omitted from a book citation if it is the first edition.
Is there any way to force the style to omit the edition field if
Edit: the same applies to "0 ed.", which also sometimes happens for whatever reason?

edition = 1, or is this an unfortunate limitation of CSL? Obviously the imported "1" could just be deleted, but it's a bit of a pain to do that every time I import a book lol. Thanks folks!Edit: the same applies to "0 ed.", which also sometimes happens for whatever reason?

dunningUnfortunately the styles can only detect whether or not a certain variable is present, and cannot leave out information based on its value.

adamsmithI'd like to avoid this on import as much as possible, though. If you can give us some examples of how the 1st edition gets into Zotero (URLs, ideally) we can see what we can do to avoid it at that point -- I don't think this is ever useful metadata
