According to APA, the format for journal article normally is:
Authors (year). Title. Journal, volume(issue), pages.

Further, APA specifies that the format for a journal article with missing volume number is:
Authors (year). Title. Journal, (issue), pages.

Zotero’s APA7 style produces:
Authors (year). Title. Journal, issue, pages.
without parentheses.
