[Concept test] Zotero on Android + Attanger/Zoo + Syncthing

I was thinking how to use Zotero for Android with a different sync system than the official Zotero storage. I will explain my thinking before trying it to see if I am missing something (and so I do not destroy my database).

*Current situation*
Using Attanger (https://github.com/muisedestiny/zotero-attanger?tab=readme-ov-file#readme) + Syncthing to "send" files to my android Tablet.
Given that Zotero for Android does not work with linked files I understand this set up will not work as it is right now (source: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/114869/android-linked-files)

*Plan*
Either: Change Attanger to Stored Copy and change the synced directory
OR
Use Zoo on Android instead because it does not use linked files (same thread, comment by onemaize).
*Create a collection called "Available on Tablet" that will be the only one actually synced (in order to avoid using all the storage in my Tablet).
*Add to that collection the stuff I need on my tablet. (idea: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/117581/android-tablet-workflow-with-onedrive-and-new-app)

*Preparation*
Retrieve all files sent with Attanger.
Disable "Linked Files" from Attanger.
(Install Zoo)
Set to sync the folder I actually want in my tablet (?).

*Question*
Would a partial sync (just one collection) of my library break anything?

It is still fuzzy, but do you think this would work?
Thanks :D

You can automate this for each linked PDF you want to work on in the Zotero mobile apps with Zotmoov's custom menus. You don't need Zoo in that scheme. Not sure if Attanger can automate similarly, but it should at least be able do it all manually.

As I mentioned in the other thread, as you will be turning Zotero file syncing ON, you must have available space in your online file storage quota.

That's where it may get complicated. Remember that even though your PDFs are 'linked' files so not in local Zotero storage, Zotero may still be storing other files as 'stored' files - like web snapshots and note images - that could be taking up significant space that would take you over your online file quota limit.

    * (the specific custom menu example shown there is the opposite of what you would set up. That example is for people with 'stored' PDFs - it can move a PDF into a cloud-mirrored folder as a linked file on their computer, synced by that service to mobile, where that PDF can then be opened from the cloud folder and worked on in an *external* PDF viewer; and then when back on computer, the user moves the PDF back into Zotero storage, and imports or extracts the annotations).
