Android tablet workflow with OneDrive and new app

Hello,

A year ago I switched to Zotero and decided to use the Zotfile + OneDrive workflow with my Android tablet. But now, with the Android app which will be very useful to save articles directly from my tablet (which I need), I understand that the app can't read linked files, and can't read stored files in OneDrive.

So, what are my options? Did anyone find a way to use WebDAV with OneDrive? Or, can I open the PDF on the app but with an external PDF reader (in order that I can still use OneDrive)? Or, is there a way to easily save articles on my tablet without the app?

I hope I'm clear enough. Thanks for your help!
  • If you are under your Zotero online file storage quota*, you can convert any linked files you wish to work with on your tablet to Zotero stored files on your computer. With file syncing turned ON in Zotero, they will be synced to the Zotero app on your tablet. When you have finished working with them, and when back on your computer, switch them back to linked files. Designating a collection to hold files that you are working with like that is any easy way to keep track of those files in Zotero storage (of course they also remain in their usual collections too).

The flipside of that is that files that remain as linked files in Onedrive should be accessible in an external reader on your tablet. Any annotations you add to them there will appear as locked when in the Zotero reader back on your computer. You can just import those annotations into Zotero then (you just won't see any Zotero annotations when you load the PDF into an external reader ... unless you export them to the PDF).

*If you are not currently using Zotero online storage, check in your computer's OS for the volume of files under the *entire* Zotero\storage folder hierarchy - that will tell you roughly how much online storage quota space will be required if you turn file syncing ON. Then your quota and current usage will be displayed here:

  • Thank you for the reply !

The thing is that I want to use Zotero on my tablet independantly of my laptop. Also my storage need is aroung 10-20 Go. So I've decided to use WebDAV for syncing with Koofr.

Now, I'm not sure I understand how the sync and storage work. I've synced my files with Koofr and I've purged my Zotero storage. But my PDF files are still in my PDF folder in my laptop, even when I add a new article. I thought it wouldnt be stored in my laptop but on Koofr. Also, my Zotero storage tells me I use 0 Go... but again the PDF are in my Zotero folder.

    I guess I'm missing something.
