[Android] Webdav sync doesn't open all files

edited 8 days ago
Today I decided to move to Webdav sync on my Android Zotero, but although file attachments in PDF format exist, for some items they are not available for download, i.e. for reading on my tablet. When I check the same item and file on my PC, there's no problem, I can open and read it.
Is there anything I'm missing here? Thanks a lot!

  • The mobile apps only support stored files, not linked files.

@dstillman I believe it is also the case that WebDAV only syncs stored files to the WebDAV server, not linked files (the documentation is a little unclear on that) ?

  • Linked files do not sync, by definition (as it says in the section I linked to).
  • Ok that's what I was missing! thanks for your prompt reply!

@dstillman thanks for the confirmation. The reason I asked is that I've come across a number of people implementing WebDAV with a mix of stored and linked files who expected both to be uploaded to their WebDAV server. They were people who understood the well-known restrictions on linked files. But it seems they miss the implication of "linked files don't sync" meaning that linked files don't work with WebDAV. I guess they assume that that limitation refers only to syncing to Zotero servers.
