file size

How can I recognize the size of files that are in my libraries - I want to delete too large files
  • Do a search in your OS's file manager of the folder hierarchy under Zotero\storage, for *.PDF. Sort by size. The PDF file name may be enough to tell you which Zotero item a big PDF belongs to. If not, put its folder name (eg 2BJZFJXT) in Zotero's Quick Search set to All Fields and Tags.
  • Thanks for the immediate advice. Yet, I meant how to control, sort and remove large files contained in my Web Library. The idea is to remain well below the 300mB limit for free use of zotero
  • Right, but presumably you didn't add those files on the web?
  • +1 August 2025. Need to be able to search out large PDFs from within Zotero (I'm using application on desktop).

Searching on operating system is not sufficient (well, it's extra steps) because that searches ALL my Zotero libraries. I only want to delete items from my shared libraries. (My personal libraries can go over the storage limit all they want because I don't need anyone else to be able to see my references or annotations.)

Sharing (syncing) annotations is primordial in shared libraries because it's a form of communication between collaborators that I just cannot do without.
