Updating citation triggers endless loop in Google Docs
I have been using the Google Docs plugin without issue until about an hour ago. Starting then, any attempt to insert a new reference, update an existing reference, or refresh the references already in the document triggers an endless loop. As far as I can tell from watching what happens, the plugin is repeatedly opening the chrome search dialog, searching for the next instance of the "space" character, moving the cursor there, and then repeating with the next space. It does this over the whole document, then starts over at the beginning. Each space takes about half a second.
At no point is the update operation completed. Screenshot shows what the screen looks like during one of these search steps.

Any ideas?

You edited a citation by accident to include only a space, and on Google Docs it has to scan the document for each space because of that. See what I say there to fix.
