Zotero randomly stopped working in Google Docs mid-paper writing
Hi there -
I am at my wit's end. Zotero was working fine for a while for a paper I'm writing in Google Docs. Then, suddenly, every time I try to cite the red loading bar gets stuck and I get this message: "Zotero needs the Google Docs tab to stay active for the current operation. Please do not switch away from the browser until the operation is complete" (screenshot attached). When I click "OK," the document starts, of its own accord, cycling through "find/search" for every period in the entire document, over and over again (like if i were to command-F ".") and does not stop unless I exit or refresh the document. I've updated Zotero, then uninstalled and reinstalled it, and also tried it in both Safari and Chrome, and the problem persists. Why is this happening? How do I fix it? Why did it start randomly?

noellemarieiatiI'm not sure what this means. This is the same problem, for sure, but I don't see any citations that have been accidentally replaced with a period?

poettliAccording to the linked thread, there is no easy way with Google Docs, because it is not possible to toggle the field codes. One way, also explained there, is to temporarily move the document to word. The procedure is linked in the other thread.
