Zotero Connector now doesn't capture Reddit comments

Report ID: 2004959352 (but it said no errors).

Happening on at least Windows 10, with both Firefox and Chrome Connectors, and viewed with Zotero reader and both those browsers. Slight variations with what is viewable, but mainly just the title and post text, with all comments missing.

I thought I had a lot of items with successfully saved Reddit pages (like, I really thought I had - weird), but now I see just a couple - they worked really well, and the latest added was 10/10/2023. But any Reddit added since at least 25/6/2024 (first incomplete one) is affected. This appears to pre-date my Zotero 7 update, which was probably Sept-Oct 2024 (I can't find out when that was now).

I've tried re-installing Firefox Connector, switching off Firefox SingleFile plugin, turning Firefox Advanced Tracking Protection off, switching off dark theme. I switched to old Reddit and that works OK, but no embedded images makes that worse than the fall-back. The fall-back is to use the SingleFile browser plugin for Reddit (tested and still working really well) and adding the resulting file as a Zotero item attachment - that's a faff but I used to do it.

BTW, when I did test SingleFile like that, the Zotero reader didn't display it as well as the browsers. The reader added in a couple of elements that aren't shown on the actual webpage. But, it did include the 2nd image on a Reddit page (one where on the actual webpage you click a ">" to slide over to it, no idea what the correct terminology is). In Zotero reader it placed the second image under the first image. It's not viewable in either browser. Pretty confused by that as well.
  • @dstillman I'm a bit surprised by the lack of interest, but I guess that makes it not a priority, fair enough. But just a bit frustrating because Zotero devs got it working really well, using SingleFile AFAIK. Then it broke but SingleFile didn't. Reddit might seem a weird source to reference, but it's often direct reporting of experiences for various projects. I guess I'm back to SingleFile wrangling.

An example URL is usually required for the devs to replicate the problem you're seeing. And a succinct description of what's wrong with it.
