Anyway to set "Omit Author" as default for plugin?

I mostly use Author-date references with in-text narrative references to the author, such as the example given in the Word plugin instructions page [“According to Smith (1776), the division of labor is crucial…”.]. Currently, the plug-in default is that "omit author" is not set, which requires that I check the "omit author" for every entry. Just wondering if there is a way to set "omit author" as the default setting.

Not via Zotero itself as far as I know, but you could modify the citation style and remove anything author related. If you'd then would want to add an author's name in the bracket you'd be editing the citation though and it would make the citation not updateable anymore though. So it has its drawbacks.

Thanks, I have messed with that idea but as you mention, for me, the drawbacks outweigh the benefit.
