Copy Collection from group library to private library

Hi there,

I’d like to connect a collection from my group library to Research Rabbit. Since this isn't directly possible (you can only connect your private library), I came up with a workaround: copying the entire collection from the group library into my private library. Initially, this seemed to work. I used a simple drag-and-drop, and the collection successfully transferred.

However, after restructuring some elements in the group library version of the collection, I wanted to update the copied version in my private library by replacing the first copy with a new one. So I deleted the old copy and attempted to re-copy the collection using the same process. This time, it didn’t work. I also tried the right-click menu and the standard Cmd+C/Cmd+V copy-paste method. I tried again with other collections and noticed a pattern: the first copy-paste attempt works, but subsequent attempts fail.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this? Alternatively, I’d just as much appreciate recommendations for other ways to link a collection from my group library to Research Rabbit.

I think you need to empty the trash in Zotero for the second copy from group to personal library to work. The items in the Trash may not let you do the transfer of the same (updated) item.

You haven't needed to empty items from the trash to drag again for years, but now that collections can exist in the trash in Zotero 7, that probably is preventing re-dragging of collections. We'll fix that.
