I am having a hard time getting this even started. I successfully linked my zotero to my Boox device - 4C I go into my library and select an article and the pdf is shown under atttachments, If i click on it all it does is download it, and it does not open it. If i look around the device i cant find where it is downloaded to try to open it there. How do you actually open a file to read it? Sorry if this is just ridiculously stupid.
@carichardsp "For the files that do manage to load on my reader, I have to manually click upload when in the bound zotero file settings. If you long hold the file, when looking at it from the zotero sync file manager and NOT the neo library, you will get an upload option. This is the only way i found I could upload annotations but havent seen how to do it automatically"
thanks so much for this - this is the only way I've figured out how to upload annotations consistently. I've found some others are showing up on Zotero, but I can't figure out why.
Unfortunately, I keep getting network error issues when trying to navigate folders in the Zotero sync file manager (as well as it being painfully slow). Hopefully this is a bug that gets worked out (although it's happening after I downloaded the most recent Boox update, so I'm not feeling confident)
I am just sharing that as I start a new set of courses I tried again to get a workflow between zotero pc/boox/android phone and it just doesn't work well for pdf annotations. For now I will have zotero use an external pdf editor (foxit - new to me) for pc and mobile phone (side win, the TTS reader seems pretty good).
The files I know I will be working on (textbook to start) are sent to a folder that is both cloud based (sync.com) and in syncthing. Neoreader (boox) and foxit (pc/phone) seem to work well together on the same document for highlights and comments (all I need to get started).
All papers will be in zotero and I will use the web interface to pull them into whatever device I am working on and they will then be based in the sync/syncthing folder system.
Zotmoov is in place to move files to the folder as well - but this means no zotero annotations as well.
I hope to catch the next opportunity to join the android beta and be able to use the zotero pdf editor. The zotero note system is lovely, and I am so grateful for it. Can't wait until it supports android and I will chip in when I can above the basic subscription level that I have.
Hihi, I want to share a solution to a syncing problem I had with the attachments of my zotero on my boox - mind: in the cloud storage feature of boox, not the zotero android app. -
Problem: the boox not not showing any of my zotero attachments in the cloud syncing, even though: - my zotero sync between other devices was working fine, and - the directory of collections in the library stayed updated - (I think) all the initial attachments I had already looked at stayed accessible
Solution: After my oneDrive stopped syncing at some point, too!!, I locked out of the account, leaving zotero to be the sole cloud storage used with the device. Miraculously, attachments are shown reliably again now. (As far as I am aware.)
Even though its a boox and not zotero problem, I think it might be helpful for others, too. Good luck.
