  1. Ligatures in the "Hover-Reference-Popup"

    by nopx · October 16, 2024
[1]. However, apparently Zotero uses a font with ligatures for the popup window. Therefore searching for titles with fi, ff etc. always fails and requires manual fixing. I guess using a font without
  2. Weird text rendering for built-in PDF reader

    by SaileeSakhalkar · September 10, 2024
Upon some browsing of the forum, I think the issue is the same as https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/473700/#Comment_473700, with ligatures. I will try to troubleshoot it a bit more, but any

  5. Built-in PDF reader doesn't recognize ligatures

    by minervasowl · December 4, 2023

  6. The continuous character fi cannot be equal to fi.

    by dstillman · September 28, 2023
You're talking about the extracted text from highlighting? That's not a general problem, but some PDFs may use ligatures that get copied.
  7. Ligatures are not copied from PDF in Zoteros PDF viewer, Report ID 865672033

@martynas_b The issue of ligatures vanishing from Zotero PDF annotations and searches could be due to embedded fonts.

Yes, Preview.app recognizes ligatures correctly in this file, but other two PDF readers, that I tested, also show empty characters.

I sent a copy of a PDF, "Versification...", which has ligatures that Zotero can display, but not copy or search. The PDF was added January 24, 2022. Indexed "partial". Reindexing had no effect. The st

Zotero displays ligatures, like like "fi" or "ft", just fine in PDF. Surprisingly,
  11. Search returns results are missing compared to equivalent library in Endnote

    by Deezotee · April 25, 2021
I did some more example searches and it appears that the ligatures problem accounts for the vast majority of the unexplained differences in the search results between my Zotero and Endnote libraries.

Sure, though I don't see why this can't be integrated, since we haven't been able to find any use case for Russian citations with ligatures (is your main concern code organization?). Zotero could just

Yes, so it seems. I have not yet found a journal that includes ligatures. I suggest that we simply strip out ligatures (and do other conversions as noted on Twitter) when citing Russian sources if Fra

Here's some info about this from CMoS: Journals of Slavic studies generally prefer a “linguistic” system that makes free use of diacritics and ligatures. In works intended for a general audience, howe

FWIW, on some keyboards layouts, AltGr (ctrl+alt) is used to type diacritics/ligatures. In my case, for instance, if I type AltGr+o, Zotero creates a new note which begins by "œ"… Not a big deal but C
