  1. "Zotero experienced an error updating your document."

    by adomasven · December 17, 2021

Ok - thanks anyway for looking into this. Word tells me it's at its latest version, Windows updates are always ongoing so I assume likewise there; and have restarted my PC countless times. My security

I'm sorry to say that this does not offer any more insight. It's a very generic error from Word and there may be ways for us to trace it further, but first you should update Windows, Word, restart you

If you're still having a problem in your document after upgrading, see Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents, and start a new thread with the requested info after going through those step

Recently, fields no longer work on zotero for me- they will add into the document but when you click on them with the edit tool in word you get "you must insert a reference to edit" and it will not bu

Thanks, I got that far, but I don’t have any bibliographies in Word, so I couldn’t check if it actually functions or not. So please let me know if it does work and I will update the wiki page.

The folder is still the same, but something seems to have changed in recent Word versions in the XSL format. The bibtex.xsl template is not being recognized as valid, and neither is Microsoft's docume

I'm also having the same problem. Does the .xsl need an update to be recognised by the current versions of Word 365/Mac ?

My apologies. I honestly thought I had removed all footnotes from my document using Zotero, but as it turns out I used Word to remove all Zotero footnotes. I KNEW it was possible to remove all the fo
  10. Citation style allowing to define my own citation labels?

    by Bauer.KD · December 16, 2021
For Word processor support, the closest I can find is the DIN 1502-2 style, which uses the "citation-label" variable and is similar to the "abbrev" BibTeX style.

to help you. I have been the primary Zotero word plugin developer for the past 6 years so you should put some weight on my words.

You can remove all footnotes using built in Word features: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/delete-a-footnote-endnote-or-separator-4183cd36-a421-4dba-aa4c-fa511bba4b3f

I don't recall what issues I had in 2015 and that is all in the past anyway. I am not going crazy. I have removed all footnotes in my word document in the past. For some reason the unlinked zotero foo

Also, looking at your post history here it seems that in 2015 you had an issue where none of your Word footnotes appeared, even manually inserted ones. You had determined that it was a bug in Word or

Zotero uses a Word feature called fields, which allows to store additional information "underneath" text. Zotero uses this information to format and reformat your citations when inserting and editing

Well, I know it can be done because in previous versions of Zotero, and on another computer I was able to remove all footnotes and left the Word document with all footnotes removed.

Could you submit a Report ID? Does citing work in a new document? If you enable field shading in Word do things look orderly (e.g. are only Zotero citations shaded grey)?

I find it odd that when a solution is not successful its never Zotero's fault, its always the word processor's fault.

I am using Word 2016 and using alt-F9 didn’t work for me. It just took me to another page.
