I have installed Zotfile but whenever I download a PDF to my specified download folder, neither Zotero nor Zotfile does anything. I wish I could get it to work because it sounds awesome.

Some kind of syncing with dropbox is possible by synchronizing the Zotero storage folder, or using ZotFile. You can find more info by searching the forum (particularly search for dropbox)

I had only installed Zotfile on Firefox. I wasn't aware it was available for Standalone as well. So Zotero not having worked properly on both Firefox and Standalone is peculiar indeed.

Disabling something on its own isn't conclusive. Does the problem return if you reenable it? (And did you have ZotFile installed in both Firefox and Standalone?)

Alright. It seems, it must have been Zotfile. I disabled it, and everything seems to run smoothly now...

In general, you can do "Show file" and then copy-paste each file where you want. But there are also other alternatives such as ZotFile, or shell scripts, or searching the local file system etc.
