How exactly are you adding citations? You need to use the Add/Edit Citation button from the Word plugin, followed by the Add/Edit Bibliography button. You can test this in a new document.

The "Search Items" field does not accept more than one search word atm. The PC/Windows version (my one is 6.0.36) accepts more than one word.
