Rename syntax seems to have bugs in current ZotFile version (5.0.10) which previous worked fine in earlier editions (sorry, new computer, not sure of which earlier Zotfile version I had)

I've followed @alex.mitrani instructions and used Zotfile to store all my pdf files on OneDrive and that worked well! On my personal computer I have stored the files in the following location 'users/A

You can use ZotFile to convert those to linked files if you want to.

Others would need to help with configuring ZotFile.

I disabled Zotfile, but the problem still occurs.

If you're running any plugins (ZotFile or others), you should try with those disabled.

I installed Zotero again, so I am using 5.0.73 version + ZotFile.

Thanks, dstillman. I have ZotFile installed. A little Googling reminded me that I needed to right-click and manage the files to get them moved to the correct folder.

That's a ZotFile feature, not a Zotero feature.

The ZotFile extension can extract annotations from PDFs into Zotero notes.

There are third-party Android apps for Zotero that may work on tablets, though, and you can always use ZotFile to sync files to tablets for annotation without a dedicated app.
