The item type wildcard is tied to the Zotero locale (here). So bwiernik is correct, there is no straightforward way. However, ZotFile's user-defined wildcards could provide a workaround.

That could be why ZotFile is not working for you. It's easy to check.

You can't use ZotFile on top-level PDFs. They need to be attached to a parent item.
