I could never get Office 2016 to work on wine (using crossover). I've been using 2010 fine, but can't get Zotero to work in that environment. Same with 365. Just tried it again with 365. Sure, the free standing Zotero works, but when I try to inse…

@Lynx_TWO Do you have multiple copies of the cited references in your zotero library? When you enter a citation, zotero should use the same number for each reference each time you cite it. So, Watson & Crick, 1953 might be [1] on first citation.…

Better BibTex is good for this for Title and Publication fields at least. Zotero has an option for Title Case or Sentence case, while BBTX adds another option that maintains (some) abbreviations, etc. (like DNA or words in deliberately mixed case). …

You can share a library for the project with each editor, then refresh works fine. I've been doing it that way for years. The only caveat is that if one of the editors inputs a citation from somewhere else in their library (i.e., not from the share…

I deleted the offending items and reinserted, then redid the citations in the doc.

I see it's back, thank you!

@emilianoeheyns Brilliant, thanks.

Not really, but thanks for your input.

There definitely used to be a third option in the right click menu, but it's gone now. Must have been BBT or one of the other add-ons. It was very useful.

Has anyone successfully edited the Zotero.dot file to work with versions of Zotero past 5.0.58? That version of Zotero is now so old that it won't sync my libraries.
-
Should be, but I haven't been able to figure out the secret sauce edits to the Zotero.dotm file to make it work yet. In the older version, there were some changes to the VB in the Zotero.dot file that allowed it to work (https://forums.zotero.org/…

Could we have a couple of custom-use fields?

OK, makes sense. Any ideas about my other thread about getting zotero to work in WINE then (which is why I'm using 5.0.58). Upgrading Zotero breaks Word integration. https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/97997/anyone-got-zotero-plugin-working-in-wo…

Update to this in case anyone's interested (and has a solution to upgrading). Running MS Word in (Codeweaver's Crossover Office version of) WINE. I got Zotero working in the WINE container (as outlined here https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/12426…

OK, I can see that. Seems weird that anystyle includes the citation-number = {##.} field only to throw it away again though. I guess I could try changing citation-number to some other field that would allow me to reorder by that field -- I thought …

I realise it's a little out of the main aim of the citation manager, but for editors -- when we get a flattened doc with no access to the original library or a doc done in another citation manager -- it would be a real boon to be able to apply style…

Yes, I see the citation-number = {#.}, field in the anystye.bib output, but I don't see a way of using it to order the citations. I also can't figure out how Zotero decides what order to produce output -- it seems pretty random. There's no citation…

OK, I see what you're saying, and I'm using the tool a little outside how it is usually used. A complicating factor is I'm running on Linux, so native Zotero but MSWord in a WINE wrapper so the Zotero plugins don't work. I can use LibreOffice, but s…

I'm editing other people's work. The main point in dumping the references out to Zotero is so I can fix all the auto-gen garbage that all the citation managers seem to be prone to without having to do it all manually. I don't understand why the refe…
