Hi, Which kind of output are you choosing - Save as RTF, Save as HTML, Copy to clipboard, or Print? Also, could you explain more what you mean by "refuses to respond"? Thanks.

Note that in Win XP/FF 2.0.0.7 the pulldown menu is about 4 pixels high. It works, but it's easy to miss. It's tiny in my FF on Linux (Gentoo) as well, and I did miss it initially. But it's a very nice tool that is helping me read the CSL. Thank you.

Yes, we're just thinking out loud. =) You've probably seen that there already is a zotero:// protocol. It's displayed in the Firefox address bar when a report is generated. I think it's only internal now, but maybe it will become accessible at some…

I don't know if you're interested in Linux/Unix applications at all, but if so, you might check out Tomboy. Although on the surface it looks like just a sticky-note app, it allows for your notes to be interrelated with wiki-type syntax. That feature…

I was using the term "use case" just as a way of trying to talk about what kind of Zotero data would be useful to have in FreeMind (and vice versa?), I'm not attached to it for other reasons. For example, I'm not sure what kind of data it would be …

Hi, Are you exporting from EndNote in RefMan (RIS) format? There are some instructions here: http://www.zotero.org/blog/making-the-switch-to-zotero/ If that doesn't fix things, it might be better to start a new thread in the "Import / Export" sub-f…

I'd also like to be able to interoperate between Zotero and Freemind. But I'm not sure in exactly what way. I'm uncomfortable with copying/pasting as I don't want two versions that would get out of sync.I think it's important to decide on the purpos…

Yay, thanks!

Have you tried using Advanced Search? There's a screencast that demonstrates how it works: http://www.zotero.org/documentation/advanced_search_screencast

Just a side comment: wouldn't it be nice if Zotero could just open in OpenOffice?I doubt this will be possible, since the Zotero database relies on Firefox's sqlite backend. Maybe a future version of the OOo bibliography tool will be able use the Z…

Hi, what kind of integration would you like to see? FreeMind is a cross-platform, Free (GPL) mind-mapping application written in java. It's really excellent. More info, screenshots, and a gallery of examples can be found here: http://freemind.sourc…

Hi, I'd think your best bet would be to try installing the standard package for OOo to see if that makes any difference. I understand that the Novell version of OOo is modified, so maybe one of the modifications is responsible for the error you'r…

I´m running Fedora 7 on a x86-64 machine. Logged as root I´m trying to install the Zotero extension (1.04a) for OpenOffice.org (2.2.0).Why are you logged as root? If I'm understanding what you mean there, it's a very bad idea. Also, I don't know ho…

Well, you could view your exported html file in Firefox and use the right-click context menu to enter your notes into Zotero, where they could be tagged, associated with sources, and cross-referenced. I don't know that this would suit you, though.…

Can your mind mapping software export to html?

Well, first thing, I'd try uninstalling the extension by that same method, using 'unopkg gui' and 'Remove' as root. In addition, I'd delete the settings directory created for root when using that method. In other words, you'd want to delete /root/.…

Hi, Could you explain what you did when you tried to install the extension as root? Did you start OOo as root and then use the extension manager? I'm asking these questions because I'm thinking that the fact that you can see the extension but it ca…

Hi, Would it be possible to add a translator for the Catalogue BN-OPALE PLUS, which is the online catalog for the Bibliothèque nationale de France? http://catalogue.bnf.fr I've seen that the BNF's Gallica catalog has been requested, but I haven't se…

Hi, If anyone's maybe thinking about this issue, I have another possibility for opening the directory containing the file in Linux, xdg-open: http://portland.freedesktop.org/xdg-utils-1.0/xdg-open.html Xdg-open (part of xdg-utilities) provides a g…

I was noticing that it was taking a long time for Zotero to delete some attachments yesterday. And I also discovered that there were some malformed URLs in the "Extra" field (I think) of three of my items that prevented me from generating a report. …

First, did you know that there is a plug-in for Word that allows you to insert citations and bibliographies directly into your documents? More information can be found here. Maybe you aren't using this plug-in due to concerns about flexibility that …

Hi, Have you tried saving the files by dragging and dropping rather than by using the snapshot feature? For example, in your 1) method, once you have the pdf open in a browser window, can you "pick it up" in the Firefox address bar and then drag d…

3. Have an option (which I would set as default) to only show references - I don't want to insert references to pdf's, notes etc...and it would make it easier to select references if these didn't appear.I agree with this one. You might try the worka…

You can use tags in that way now. In fact, you could name some tags using Unicode star symbols (☆☆☆☆☆). That's not quite the same thing as a rating, but maybe it could be useful until the feature is added to Zotero. For more information about tags,…

Maybe the database repair tool will help: http://www.zotero.org/utils/dbfix/ Don't forget to make a copy of your Zotero data directory as per the instructions, just in case. :)

Have you seen the screencast? http://www.zotero.org/documentation/timeline_screencast

Hmm, I don't know that it's possible to display notes only in the search results. Maybe there is a way, but I'm thinking it would need to be coded in, like the "Only show top-level items" option. I seem to remember that it will become possible to e…

No worries, Zotero has a lot of features can it can take some time to discover them all. :)

This is possible already. See: http://www.zotero.org/documentation/annotation_screencast Annotation and highlighting does not work with pdf files or word processing documents, even when these are opened in a browser window. However, it is possible …

You're welcome. :) Isn't it nice when things are simpler than expected?
