  • Found a bug: to avoid overriding Zotero’s highlighted styling, which is used to show the collections an item belongs to when holding Option, change every instance of :not(.selected) to :not(.selected):not(.highlighted) in the CSS above.

  • With AI's help, I found a temporary workaround solution using userChrome.css. It colors collection names by nesting level, but does not color individual collections. For Zotero 9.0.3 on Mac: https://s3.amazonaws.com/zotero.org/images/forums/u848168…
