Presumably foreign month names can be parsed by using localized CSL terms lists--not sure about seasons. CSL 1.0 locales contains terms for months and seasons. Have you figured out how to deal with months/seasons? It would be great to sort June 2001…

1) My proposals above were mostly meant as a stopgap solution. 2) You bring up the fact that different translators produce dates in different date formats (even if the date was originally structured, as is the case for e.g. PubMed records), and tha…

FWIW, you might want to try updating OpenOffice.org.

I also found translators renamed in my installation of Zotero 2.1b1: http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/6726/translators.jpg I upgraded from Zotero 2.0, but Frank was able to duplicate this with a clean install of 2.1b1.

Any reason you're not running the latest stable version of Zotero (2.0.8)?

It's slightly off-topic, but Vanilla 2 is now available (http://vanillaforums.org/), offering MySQL's fullText search (http://vanillaforums.org/page/Search) and some nice addons like Google Code Prettify (http://vanillaforums.org/addon/616/google-co…

the "y m d" indicator could also stay but display the actual order of parsed elements Just noting that in this case my second point becomes even more important (because the "y m d" order of the indicator currently corresponds with the order of the d…

My preference would be to keep the current behavior of showing the unparsed date in the date field. Otherwise some fields will show a parsed date, while others will show an unparsable/unparsed date, and I don't know how a) you'd communicate to users…

Styles have been committed (the only validation errors were regarding invalid content of the updated element for the dependent styles): https://www.zotero.org/trac/changeset/6964 It might a moment for the new styles to show up in the style reposito…

Are you running Zotero 2.0.8?

You identified two limitations of the CSL version used by Zotero 2.0 (CSL 0.8.1). Italicizing "et al" will be supported in CSL 1.0 (which in turn will be supported by Zotero 2.1). We've only recently discussed how CSL should offer control over the c…

Today I stumbled onto google-refine (http://code.google.com/p/google-refine/ , formerly known as Freebase Gridworks). The video demo shows a rather nice interface for batch editing, and it would seem a nice companion for Zotero. I'm not sure how eas…

That might be a bug in the Zotero CSL processor, which probably will be fixed when Zotero 2.1 comes out. I don't think we can fix this in the style. [edit: are you running Zotero 2.0.8? Some recent releases had issues with sorting of the bibliograp…

A workaround that should do the trick: - copy/paste each chapter to a new empty Word document - generate the bibliography in the newly created documents - remove the zotero field codes in the new documents (http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/3704/…

Just curious: does the 26th reference cause the bibliography to span more than 1 page?

I made some corrections (it might a moment for the new style to show up in the style repository: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/9786/mla-style-for-journals-is-incorrect/?Focus=46124#Comment_46124 ). Note that this style has some requirements wh…

I uploaded a new version in which both issues should be fixed (it might a moment for it to show up in the style repository: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/9786/mla-style-for-journals-is-incorrect/?Focus=46124#Comment_46124 ). For the technical…

How exactly are you deleting items? Are you sure you're not removing items from your current collection? See also: http://www.zotero.org/support/collections#deleting_an_item

I might be able to take a look at the style in the next week or two. All SGM journals seem to use the same reference style, although it's rather sparsely documented.
-
https://www.zotero.org/trac/ticket/888 Outputting dates "as is" is an outstanding ticket, so I don't think it's possible in Zotero 2.0.
-
Is the file extension ".cls" or ".csl"? It should be the latter.

I can't make serious use of Zotero unless this issue is addressed, and I imagine there are many other biologists in the same boat. I'm also a mammalian biologist (I don't study mammals though), and have been using the following workflow successfully…

I don't think that works (yet): http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/8243/keyword-tags-in-style/?Focus=37235#Comment_37235

@mark: yes, I should have noted that using negative values isn't the official way to do it (recently there has been some discussion on this topic, which resulted in updated descriptions for entry-spacing and line-spacing for CSL 1.0: http://citation…

I haven't tested this in Word, but for chrome://zotero/content/tools/csledit.xul, setting entry-spacing to "-1" reduces spacing between entries.

I really dislike the "---- ----" solution. IMHO, it's much clearer to keep the normal name delimiters. So my vote would be against including CSL support for issue 3. Also, I found some instructions from the Chicago Manual of Style (http://community.…

adamsmith, are you sure that "and" isn't inserted between the dashes for the "Smith and Meyer" example? Otherwise, to cover all these examples, we need to be able to specify: 1) the text string that should be used to substitute repeated author name…

Perhaps Wikipedia offers a good analogous case? Like CSL styles in a repository, Wikipedia articles are freely available, often have multiple contributors, and can be subject to branching. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Copyrights
