If I remember correctly, Zotero might dislike the XML comment on line 2 prior to the root cs:style element. (edit: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/18588/not-a-valid-csl-file/?Focus=96617#Comment_96617 )

Should we work these exceptions into the CSL spec? I guess we should at least have all the info in one place.
-
Also, http://www.shell-tools.net/index.php?op=xml_format reports: /var/tmp/FOOZXQbv9:18: parser error : Input is not proper UTF-8, indicate encoding ! Bytes: 0x91 0x3C 0x2F 0x74 ‘ ^ So it might be an encoding is…

I can reproduce this with the trimmed down style https://gist.github.com/1839241 . It gives an "Error parsing style: TypeError: child.getAttribute is not a function" error in the Zotero Reference Test pane. Strangely, the error goes away when I put …

Which style are you using?
-
If you share your style (e.g. via gist.github.com, as described at https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/wiki/Submitting-Styles ), we can take a look.
-
I contacted Till Heilmann to ask if we could use your styles to replace his.

You might be interested in http://about.orcid.org/. Any solution that only uses names will always be limited in solving ambiguity.
-
Also, a typographical question: while most files use an ellipsis in strings like "Submit Feedback…", eight English strings in preferences.dtd use three periods. Should these be replaced by ellipses?
-
@fcheslack, yes, sorry. I indeed see TM suggestions for some strings. Also, a comment to other translators: there are some strings that have changed over time, so it's not enough to just translate the untranslated strings.
-
@fcheslack, could you set up a Translation Memory (TM) for the Transifex Zotero project? To make sure I consistently translate certain terms I often find myself using the search box, but that is limited to the current file, and from what I understo…

We're a bit hesitant to upload styles to the repository when we cannot assign them a clear name and point to some documentation describing the style. What university are these styles used at? Is there really nothing online describing these styles?
-
This should do it: https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/commit/00338dc9390833232369a0736d03074c79627467 See also http://citationstyles.org/downloads/specification.html#citation-collapsing

Are your styles based on any 'official' style guides we can link to?
-
You might want to look into using Delicious Library: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/416/delicious-library-import/
-
Dan, can you take a look? The style validates just fine: http://validator.nu/?doc=https://raw.github.com/citation-style-language/styles/master/organic-geochemistry.csl&schema=https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/v1.0/csl.rnc&am…

It is (I renamed it recently): https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/blob/master/inter-ro.csl

I'm not very happy with it either. I think the main reason for this decision was that Frank argued we needed a way to display the contents of the "page" variable untouched, as for law citations the field is likely to contain more than just page rang…
-
If I remember correctly, we settled on the rather arbitrary rule that hyphen replacement only took effect when the page-range-format attribute was set. Is that the case for the style you're testing? See https://github.com/citation-style-language/do…

The only way would be to have article 3 appear first in the bibliography by changing the bibliography sorting.
-
If you mean autocompletion of item metadata in the right-hand column, that is populated based on the data in your library.

@mattw, I added a dependent style for the New Zealand Dental Journal to the CSL style repository. Thanks! https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/commit/edf1fb23c118322e1d5bd1589624c15b9b3f8015

In the Zotero Standalone preferences window (cog icon at the top of the left column --> "Preferences..."), you can find "Open about:config" under the "Advanced" tab. Click that button, and type "locale" in the Filter text field of the about:confi…

I updated the style (available from the style repository now), with a slightly different solution: https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/commit/6369fcd4e68a02014620e3bb3eb2418b17db91ea

@gcorthey, done, thanks! https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/commit/ba2b9d0c457c260000a87115d817ee92f6a8e6db
