I agree that the post layout could be improved, but this should improve when the (overdue) upgrade to Vanilla 2 happens. (see mentions in https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/54389/reporting-spam-via-spamcop/?Focus=239114#Comment_239114 and https:/…

I haven't added the older version to the repository, so no, you won't find it there. But if you follow the link https://gist.githubusercontent.com/rmzelle/56d1d6a2c0eb0c0c3f77be110c345012/raw/1d2e98f69ff28ecd42856e0d0cb8f9770247da37/de-buck-old.csl…

You can download this version: https://gist.githubusercontent.com/rmzelle/56d1d6a2c0eb0c0c3f77be110c345012/raw/1d2e98f69ff28ecd42856e0d0cb8f9770247da37/de-buck-old.csl (should show up in Zotero as "De Buck (Dutch) - old" after installation)

(and in the meantime, you could install the previous version: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/citation-style-language/styles-distribution/f2769425d8d1b2334430057528e9175ab05bfb26/de-buck.csl ; just make sure to change the style ID and "self" link …

Asked the style author about this: https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/pull/2046#issuecomment-221266910 (agree that the style probably shouldn't do this)

As for rate limits, Google Scholar is just a website, so it rate limits by IP address and cookie. So Zotero currently reads the webpage (DOM) that GS returns for a query? Is that really how it works? Seems like a lot of overhead.
-
Forget the API limit, which is a bit of a red herring right now (although it's very unlikely that Zotero could find a way to assign every user their own AK API account without a lot of work on the user's part). The main issue is that Microsoft Acad…

As discussed at the link I gave above, it's quite difficult to write software that reliably converts title case to sentence case. So it's recommended to store all titles in sentence case in your Zotero library. Styles that need title case will do th…

Microsoft Academic is a new database with an API which could offer a solution to some of the data quantity throttling limitations of Google Scholar. Doubtful, at least for now. The free tier of their Academic Knowledge API is limited to 10,000 trans…

Neither style actively converts article names (titles) to title case. Are the article titles in your Zotero library in sentence case? See https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/sentence_casing

You'd probably cite it as a manuscript (see e.g. https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/50956/unpublished-sources-urgent/ and https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/1203/how-to-cite-lecture-notes-from-an-online-course/?Focus=166923#Comment_166923). Or,…

"Editing the Zotero wiki requires a manually approved wiki account." (https://www.zotero.org/support/dev/documentation#editing_the_wiki) One of the developers will need to approve your account (there used to be a problem with wiki vandalism). I wou…

If you're talking about the location where Zotero stores your data, you can change the "Data Directory Location" in the preferences: https://www.zotero.org/support/preferences/advanced#the_files_and_folders_tab

https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md should now be fully up-to-date. I also added a note that people are welcome to create a GitHub issue to ask for help if they are stuck.

I think the instructions are out of date for the menus on the page. For example, the instructions say to "click the plus icon (with a "Fork this project and create a new file" tooltip)." That wasn't a choice when I clicked the plus icon. Thanks for …

Hi Jennifer, Sorry to hear you got stuck for a while. Looking at your past GitHub activity (https://github.com/jenniferhuddleston?tab=activity), it looks like you created several pull requests entirely *within* your own copy of the CSL style reposi…

Submited to zotero repository I can't find your submission. Did you submit this to the CSL styles repository at https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles?
-
You could try something like this, though: (as far as I know, the "original-author" name variable isn't used by Zotero, so the style should always substitute in the "title-short" variable)
-
@BCSHFS, if I understand you correctly, you want to have short titles in in-text citations, even if an item has authors. And when multiple items have the same short title, you want year-suffix disambiguation (the "a", "b", etc. suffixes). Is that th…

I fixed this in the repository: https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/commit/926d70dad2dde0da9909ec886c0299b400117df5 The updated style should appear in the Zotero Style Repository within 30 mins (you can check the timestamp). Once it a…

Zotero actually has some limited wildcard support in advanced searches (see https://www.zotero.org/support/searching#wild_cards). The following works for me: [Tag] [does not contain] [%] (with "Show only top-level items" checked)

That's totally fair. Touché.

Oh, and I forgot to ask: * does anybody here know about any requirements for specific types of non-breaking spaces? E.g. apart from the regular non-breaking space, there is also a narrow non-breaking space. * I assume we'd want to prevent line brea…

Some additional questions: * are there cases where initials should be separated by non-breaking spaces, but the last initial and family name with a regular space? Or vice versa (regular spaces between initials, but non-breaking space between last i…

I'm fine with @fbennett's current solution, but I agree with @adamsmith that we should eventually be able to cover the case of no-space delimiters between initials with a custom delimiter after the initials and before the family name. (maybe with an…

You don't see any type of 'grippy' at the very left of the Zotero pane that allows you to reopen the collections pane? (edit: removed incorrect advice)
-
@marionsd, this problem should be fixed in Zotero for Firefox 4.0.29.8, which has just been released. (see https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/58455/2/style-validation-change/#Item_18 for another thread where people had the same issue) It turned o…

Glad you got it figured out! (the gist I put up was copy/pasted from my "styles" folder in Zotero; maybe something changed after I downloaded the style from https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/58471/firefox-error-says-my-style-isnt-valid/)
