Removed zotero stand-alone, and the add-on. Restarted firefox. Re-installed zotero stand-alone. Tried syncing: "Too many queued requests. Try again in 5 minutes". At least that's new :-)

retrying to sync -- no go. Shows no progress on actual file syncing 0/xxx transmitted, etc.

I use firefox. I thought it might be an add-on that is causing this, but then it would have happened everywhere -- my firefox browsers are all synced. So that's not it.
