I have a document where the superscripted citation has a tooltip, but the ref management software used then was EndNote, so I guess it's possible with EndNote but not with Zotero...

I'm having the same problem as scottpowell, namely Zotero loses the focus of the currently selected library item, and so I have to select it again in order to continue typing notes or adding tags - only until focus is lost again, after a few seconds…

Ok, thanks. Too bad there isn't a simple way of getting these stats via a dialog in the Zotero Word integration plugin. Such a feature would be useful in, for example, getting a sense of which are the papers that a given thesis most builds upon, and…

Thanks. I will update my Firefox, although the ZSC plugin I find quite useful, although it's clearly buggy (only works if you periodically restart Firefox)

Got two debug IDs, for two different operations: D904831559 - importing a locally-stored PDF of about 1,300kB (took less this time) D1368014344 - importing paper from ScienceDirect
-
I would say that's unlikely - just clocked it at 25 seconds to import a locally-stored 500 kB PDF file...

I personally use fields in Word 2010, but still have my citation fields spell-checked every time, which really means a LOT of time wasted by clicking Ignore All until I finally get to a non-citation word that needs to be corrected. It would be a hug…

Hi Martin, many thanks for this code. The problem of having to skip through hundreds of Zotero fields (citations) when spell-checking a word document is still driving me mad. I was wondering if you happened to have developed your code to also work w…

I have been following this post as I was also looking for a way to change the sorting order of my citations, for a given style. While the guide that adamsmith pointed to looks detailed and well written, it does look like quite a bit of technical wor…

Just had the same problem today (wished I could have sorted my Advanced Search results by year), and remembered that I'd already made a suggestion about that. Was wondering whether any devs gave this one a thought. Thanks!
-
OK, thanks for explaining this!

I've never used a saved search but I imagine that it allows you to repeat a search with previously saved search parameters. What I mean was being able to do things with the results of an advanced search, rather than having to do these operations on …

Several scenarios: I might remember that I read a paper that was 10 pages long, and knowing this helps me narrow down my list (in addition to using labels, etc) to find it faster; I might want to select a paper to read on a plane that is under my "T…

I was wondering if my second suggestion (having a column in the Zotero list that displays the number of pages in an attached PDF) was taken into consideration by the developers. I still think it would be a very good thing to implement (and not too d…

Got it, many thanks for your help.

Thanks Adam. I normally just update the ZOtero and the Zotero Winword Integration plug-ins - how do I update the translator?
-
Yes but I needed an "Attachment content" - "contains" type of search...

Thanks - unfortunately that addon is not useful at all, it takes less time to manually open each attachment than to use the addon! :) By the way, I wasn't suggesting that this feature be implemented in Zotero across platforms. Personally I use …

Thanks, I installed that add-on and it seems to be working fine. Unfortunately I could not find one for my second suggestion (number of pages in attached PDF), but hopefully this will at one point be implemented in Zotero itself rather than having t…

Thanks very much Adam, I always appreciate your prompt reply. Should I move this to Feature Requests, or is this already being considered for implementation in a future version?

"Who still goes through those one by one?" - I still do :-) Otherwise I'm tempted to go back and correct every red-underlined typo, which distracts me unnecessarily. I find it's much cleaner to do it once in one go, before submitting/printing the do…

I see. For a long document full of APA-style references, it is a bit of a pain to be clicking Ignore All over and over again. Do you think it's worth posting this suggestions in the Feedback/Wishlist section of the forum?

Thank you very much Adam!

Hi Adam, Once again you've solved my Zotero-related problem! :) Indeed checking the Include Parents box makes the attachment search work as expected. Thank you very much!

The reason I said the Save To Zotero button (URL bar) doesn't usually work for me is because, most of the time, what is saves as an attachment to the items is a *link* to the PDF, rather than the PDF itself. Is this how it should behave?
-
Thinking about it, this feature is actually quite distracting, and I am not quite sure what the point of it is. If I do a simple search for a word that is found in the title of one of the papers in my collection, I get a huge list of results, all of…
-
THis is what I used to do until I noticed a couple of times that the item wasn't saving correctly (fields were missing, or PDF wasn't attached), and so I started doing this the other way (saving the PDF manually, then adding it and retrieving the me…
-
I'm not quite sure what you mean - I usually create new items in my collection based on PDFs that I receive, and I use Retrieve Metadata to save me having to fill in all the fields. If I find an article online I could, indeed, use the URL bar comman…

It appears that Add By Identifier doesn't work either for that PDF, but if you say Zotero scans the content of the PDF and Google Scholar to find its title, author, etc, then it is really strange it could not do it for this particular PDF (a 2010 El…

The problem I'm having is exactly as described in the link you provided, so I guess the solution is either to do it by hand or make that style change. Thanks very much for your help!
