Well I've just tried it and it does perform searches, so enthusiasm barely tempered!

Oh my goodness, I started this thread in 2012 and am delighted this has now come to happen. Thank you to all the wonderful people who make Zotero work for the rest of us. I am right now going to DL 5.0. Donation coming soon, thanks again.

Ok, I've realised there's an easy solution: get Word to convert all footnotes to endnotes. Not ideal as I then need to convert the material that needs to be footnoted back again, but it'll do!
-
Thank you for the response, Aurimas. All now working perfectly.

Ok--issue now seems resolved. The Firefox-based version of Zotero needed my username and password and is now synching, but it seems to do so more slowly than previously. Is information taking a roundabout route: from Ff to Zotero-Ff to Zotero standa…

Ok, update: I've found out how to get hold of the status bar in Firefox (ctrl /), and when I click the returned zotero icon, I see that the items i've been trying to import have arrived there, not in my zotero standalone (where the last three years …

I've got the same problem since installing Zotero Standalone 4.0.8: the book / article / etc. icon does appear in my Firefox (20.0.1), and when I click it I have the dialogue box telling me it's being save to My Library. But when I use Zotero standa…

Thanks again Dan. A search function for notes in a future version is good enough for me! All the best.
-
Thank you for the reply Dan. I CAN do that in Firefox: I need to open a new tab, press Ctrl + F in to open the search box at the bottom of the screen, then return to the tab that Zotero is running in and the search box remains at the bottom of …

And further further, the problem is resolved when I use the Standalone so long as Firefox is not open.
-
Ok, further to above message, I've noticed that theproblem completely disappears when I close the standalone version and just use the Firefox pane version of Zotero. Hope that helps.
-
Hi. Ok, I've now restarted the computer and am able to have full functionality. The problem before was that the folder / paper / book icon in the browser bar wasn't appearing. Sorry for the unnecessary query, the Standalone version and improved Wo…

I've just installed Zotero 3.0b2 for Firefox and Zotero 3.Ob.2.1; but am having a related problem: When standalone is running I can't input sources from Firefox by using the folder, book, article, etc. icons at the right end of the browser. …

I've got a request / question. I've started using the standalone version and notice that I can't search through individual note panes. If, like me, you keep extensive notes it's useful to be able to search for a key-word and go directly to the secti…

Thanks, that's what I thought.

Thanks for the reply Mark, I thought as much. But yes I am a huge fan of Zotero anyway!

Ok here are 3 pics: The 1st is before I cleared the localstore.rdf...: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B-DTzRetdtnmOWI1NGM3YjMtMDY0MC00ODlmLWE0NGItN2U5ZTQ0MmZlMTQ1&hl=en&authkey=CMOUgNoD The 2nd is is after – you see the zotero refr…

Deleted the localstore.rdf file and that partially solved the problem: wiith the left pane hidden the zotero pane now fits on the screen - thanks for the advice. It doesn't quite fit with the left panel, but I can live with that until I get a new m…

Woo, a shiny new browser, exciting for those of us without much life off-screen. Thanks for the reply, completely addresses the height issue.
-
Yes, that's great.

I've got a 'tags' question. The only way of combining tags that I can see so far is in an 'and' relationship: if I select two tags, I am shown the objects which are tagged with both those terms. But it would be useful to combine tags in an 'or…

Thanks noksagt, that's totally sorted.

Hi. I'm having a similar problem, don't know if you can help. I just set up a new laptop (Sony Vaio, running on Windows 7 Home Premium); the tabs window on the left and the right hand column are both horrible to read. Any suggestions on how to a…

Yes, this search behaviour would be welcome, for me at least. For my purposes, when search results are in notes, the ideal situation would be that the search terms are highlighted in the notes pages - often these are quite long.
-
Ok, that explains it. I wasn't expecting that the fact of having tagged a selection of sources would stop the search from looking through the notes - but I see that as the notes can be tagged as well that makes sense. Thanks for the help.
-
Ok, I understand - I think. Debug ID is D2086625061 Thanks for being patient.

Steps to reproduce: - 'Byron' is referred to in my notes for a souce which isin my library on screen, but not in any of my other files. - I run a basic search for 'Byron' - There are no results I ran 'report errors' and got this ID: 39644…

Really, basic searches for text that is in my notes don't work. Yes, in advanced search I can specify notes and get results.
-
Yes, pasting from Word. I will paste it via notepad. Thanks.

That's exactly what happened: confirmation of changes but nothing appearing other than section headings. Thanks for your reply - forum support from Zotero is amazing.
