@bwiernik Yes! Your wording and examples were what I needed. :) I'm going for the presentation item type rather than video recording. Still, thank you very much.

Thank you for making the changes, @adamsmith! I don't know if the medium should always be there. Then again, I'm using NLM now. Perhaps someone experienced with IEEE could chime in. That or you could always use the contact support: https://www.iee…

I too agree that the rule is nonsense. That's one of my reasons for switching to NLM. Also, thanks for working on the Type issue. In general, thanks @adamsmith for always getting back to me.

@adamsmith, I got a response: > Dear Annabella: > Thank you for your inquiry. I checked with the editorial team who reviews the style manuals and they said that is the standard currently being used for lectures and is accurate. > > Than…

Nice. Good luck to whoever will take care of it!

Thanks for the fast reply! How can I notify whoever maintains the IEEE CSL style about this potential bug? Indeed, the thing about the parenthesis is inconsistent with everything else. I'll see if I can ask someone at IEEE about this. If I get a r…

@damnation Ah, now I understand what you meant by not having page numbers. Thanks for clarifying that. And yes, I'm aware of the mess that the guide is. For the sake of my understanding, I think I'll just make up a general form for books. Also, fo…
-
@damnation Let me see if I understand your answer to questions one and two. There is one form. It's just that whoever wrote the reference guide wanted to show how the general form would change depending on its elements. Is this correct? Now, you…

No need to. The style you linked to was what I was looking for in the first place. I couldn't find that and since I had the book I referenced, I thought the guidelines described there were the thing. I'm glad that I was wrong. So, thanks for pointin…

Dismiss my post, then. I apologize for any trouble I may have caused.

@emilianoeheyns [authors1+.:lower:alphanum:replace=etal,+][year][title:lower:abbr] did it. Thank you so much!
-
Hey @emilianoeheyns. Thanks for the feedback. Based on what you stated, the citekey format becomes [authors1+.:replace=.etal,+][year][title:lower:abbr]. Now, I want to apply the filters alphanum and lower to the author name. [authors1+.:replace=.e…

Couldn't agree more with you. Thanks twice!
-
@jvoros Well, what better way to settle on a good citekey than to rob yours? Hope you don't mind. Thanks! Also, I'll look into integration between software in the future. I didn't think of that, and it might be useful.
-
@emilianoeheyns Ah, I see. In that case, I won't use delayed auto pinning. I'll stick to the routine you've explained instead. Thank you once again for your sharing your thoughts.
-
@emilianoeheyns If that's true, then I'm not sure what I did wrong. Either way, I got Zotero working, so I'm happy about that.
-
By the way, do you use the delayed auto-pinning you mentioned? If so, what value would you recommend?
-
@emilianoeheyns You know what, I've made up my mind; I'll use citekeys like those in the first example instead of time-based ones. Regarding my TeX usage, I'm pretty new to this realm of writing and referencing. I'm learning Zotero and setting up…
-
@dstillman zotero-deb did the trick. I'm not sure about the Gnome-style desktop files stuff. I'm an Ubuntu noob as you might have guessed, but from the looks of it, it was only the desktop file for the Linux installation that wasn't doing it.
-
Yes, you're right: I didn't follow the instructions correctly. I followed them right this time but got the same results. You say this might not work for Lubuntu. You are probably right. I'll try zotero-deb instead. Thanks for your feedback!
-
Oh, I see. Well, it doesn't open from the launcher either. Any idea why this is the case?
-
This is exactly the answer I was looking for. I even made an item for your comment to test both the manual and semi-automatic approaches. Thank you very much!
-
To be honest, I thought the only purpose of citekeys was to find items in a reference manager, not to identify items from the citekeys. This makes me question my choice of citation key format. However, I realize that setting on a format will take a…
-
Thanks! I'll make the most out of this. Could you give me some pointers on why you think the filter won't be used? Or time-based citekeys in general? I find time-based IDs to be a very efficient tool to identify things because they are always roug…
-
@emilianoeheyns I've only now realized that you mentioned in your last comment that this isn't a big deal, so I'll just open an issue in GitHub. Sorry for not paying attention to that.
-
@emilianoeheyns First and foremost, I must thank you for your follow-ups. You've been very kind and attentive to me, and I appreciate that. With regards to the filter, how much time and effort would it take you to make it, and would it be benefici…
-
@emilianoeheyns The down-to-the-minute function alongside delayed auto-pinning would be a great workflow for me. However, don't bother to make the function just for my use case. I'll just use what is available or do it manually. Oh, and on second…
-
@emilianoeheyns You are right: what I made doesn't generate citekeys; it just takes what is in the `Extra` field. About adding `Citation Key: [some timestamp]` to `Extra`, may I ask why? Is there any difference between "Citation Key" and "Citekey"…
-
@emilianoeheyns In regards to my desired citekeys, it's a shame that there's no way to make them automatically. However, you were right: they are possible if I resort to workarounds. What I did was to make the pattern `[Extra:select=2,1]`, add it …

@emilianoeheyns Thanks for the clarification on what functions and filters do. I didn't quite get that when I read the doc. As for what I'm looking for, I just wanted to understand the doc, though would you mind reading my reply to @adamsmith? Th…
