Ah well, 200 pages. Too big? I'll try it on something smaller.
-
I can see in the containing folder that all the intermediate PNG files have been created.
-
I've also followed the tutorial but nothing happens when I OCR the selected PDF.
-
Thanks for the confirmation.
-
I have just installed the latest update and notice that commenting is fixed. Great stuff, thanks!
-
Yes, I think I was confusing those things. I'm not linking but storing all pdfs locally in the Zotero storage folder. So once they are imported into Zotero (ie saved as a copy), further renaming is done in place, right?
-
Reason I asked is that I have been using Zotfile and only recently noticed the inbuilt Zotero renaming. I think Zotfile makes a new copy of the pdf when renaming - is that right?
-
Great, thanks for the update.
-
But of course, this workaround can't apply to sticky notes
-
Just to follow up, after restarting computer and Zotero, I am still seeing this behaviour. Workaround is to highlight then drag to a note where I can comment.
-
Yep Zettlr ftw. You can easily try out both Obsidian and Zettlr (and probably other Zettelkasten software) by pointing both programs to the same 'vault' / file directory / folder.
-
Nope, spoke too soon. Back to the skipping behaviour. Anyone else seeing this?
-
Seems that the (recently installed) Google Scholar Citations plugin was the problem. I have removed it and am back to regular behaviour.
-
Great, thanks.
-
Ah I'm not linking to files at all but I'm sure the extraction was working up until very recently. I might have my wires crossed though.
-
Actually, all the file moving and note-related functionality seems to be in tact and the extraction was working in a previous beta.
-
As an update, I gave up with ocr within Zotero and use ocrmypdf run from the terminal. Seems to work OK, although requires a few extra steps.
-
I look forward to it.
-
Very nice idea! I was going to request something similar and came across this post. Now, I use scannable cite as my default format (for Scrivener integration), which means the preview doesn't work: "No bibliography style is choosen [sic] in the sett…
-
Ah yeh, will do.
-
I don't know of one although Preview for Mac at least lets me select across pages (to copy for example) even if it separates when highlighted.
-
Thanks for the PDF cjpoor. I am slightly amused that when I import your document into Zotero, Zotfile renames it as Poor_Research Note-Taking with Zotero.pdf
-
Is this the right place for an observation? When adding a citation in the notes editor, "suppress author" doesn't seem to work for me.
-
Yep that's working now after a restart, thanks.
-
Thanks for the quick reply. None of those shortcuts work for me, no big deal for now. Control + Tab definitely sends me to search but obviously is ignoring Control.
-
Thanks for the update. It's timely for me as I'm just getting back into academia and using Zotero again. I have been searching for the best PDF reader and editor - here it is! One comment: I'm on a MAc M1 big Sur 11.2.2. and the usual Contol + Tab …
-
I need a bit of help with this one too. I'm on a new M1 Macbook running Big sur 11.2.2. I've gone through the installation process using homebrew, installed tesseract and poppler, installed the zotero plugin, set the path in the Zotero plugin (/opt…

Ok, I think I follow. Because the storage folder lives within this directory, I'm OK to isolate it (storage) and sync it only?
-
The parent directory? Sorry ... is that the sqlite file? I don't see anything in the storage folder except folders/containers storing pdfs, web pages etc.
-
Ok, thanks for the very quick response! If I have understood correctly though, there is no problem in syncing the storage folder within Zotero as this doesn't contain the database, right?
