It would be worthwhile (for me) to have both options. Click on PDF icon and it opens in Zotero, or right-click (e.g.) and you have the option to open in your external PDF reader.

Database integrity okay. I use local drive for database. Turning off auto-sync seems to have made it more stable. Cant reproduce on demand, but will see if turning off auto-sync keeps it stable.

oops. But - problem just resolved! Must have been new version or gremlins!

Updated to 4.0.18 Report ID: 1189833866 syncing still appears stuck. not sure about the proxy structure, but I am in an academic hospital and my mac, which does not have a problem syncing, is on same network.
