Well, if nothing has been changed in the update regarding that, it seems that what used to work somewhat before now doesn’t work at all.

I have a document of nearly 800 pages, using Mac OS Sequoia 15.0.1. I have automatic updates disabled, and when I try to insert a citation, the dialog box stays red indefinitely. I have to restart Zotero to get it working again.

Sorry for my mistake, I didn’t check that after restarting Zotero, the automatic updates are marked by default again. Can't automatic updates be disabled permanently? Now it works perfect! But why are the citations underlined? Can I disable that

I understand what you're saying; I restart Zotero, open preferences, and disable automatic citations, but the dialog box still takes a long time to appear. Even the system preferences take a long time to load.
