Another tool you might look at is Qiqqa, which began life as a PDF-centric document manager and has since extended into the general ref manager space. I'm only casually familiar -- I've not used it myself -- but it might be worth a look while you're…

Not sure if it's relevant, but I think there's a check of the item type as well as the title. Items of different types will not be identified as duplicates.

This was fixed in the processor at version 1.0.222, released on September 22, 2011. The fix will not be present in Zotero 2.1.10 (which is running 1.0.213, I believe), but the fix should be present in 3.0b2 or above.

Spammers do normal working hours, I guess. I only rarely see the stuff, but my viewing hours are mostly in the evening US time. An off-the-shelf anti-idiot solution is probably best, but I'll pile on after ajlyon and suggest a disambiguation puzzle…

Aha. Thanks for that, Dan. Haste makes waste.

That's great to hear!

The locales aren't part of the processor, they're shipped separately. In the Zotero sources, they're located at chrome/content/zotero/locale/csl. I'm only minimally familiar with git, and not sure what the right way to get the submodule content in p…

Adding article to the pinpoints list is on the list of things wanted (by me included). But recently it has occurred to me that there is a separate issue, of whether statutes shouldn't be represented by individual items for each primary textual subun…

Rintze had a similar problem that turned out to be due to missing locales. That and several other chunks of the source have been converted to submodules and need to be installed separately. Could that be the issue?

Make that version 3.0m4. I've reworked things so that each language represented in a merge set will be represented, for each field and each creator, in the merged item. This should do what you want.
-
The key will be it pin down why it's crossing the year boundary in the first place. Once that happens, the data in the registry has been corrupted, and it's hard to draw conclusions from other behavior. I'll write soon by mail with further details.

The updated client (version 3.0m3) is now up. After backing up zotero.sqlite for safety, you can install it from the tools page at CitationStylist. Automatic updates should work fine after that. It should be sufficient to just update your own clien…

Do you both have the latest version installed (gear menu -> About Zotero should show 3.0m2)? If not, you can wait for a short while before updating; I'll soon make a release with basic support for multilingual field merging (I have ordinary fiel…

When you import the items, do you see the multilingual data in the imported entries? With the latest builds of multilingual Zotero, you should. Please confirm that that much is working. I have a gap in my schedule today, and may be able to implemen…

Just by way of filling out the record ... After 2.1 was released, the CSL processor's implicit handling of single-field entries as institution names caused some confusion -- among other things, we discovered that people had been using it to force p…

I've put in a little time reconstructing the references. I have 80 entries so far, spanning the 1993/1994 boundary, and everything seems to work fine. The performance I'm getting here isn't particularly bad, considering the need to recalculate long …

By "in the right fields", do you mean they're all entered in two-field mode (with the family and given names in separate fields)?
-
If it's a smallish job and needs to be done quickly, moving the fields across manually is your best solution. You don't want to work with zotero.sqlite directly. Copying the database file between systems is a way of moving exact copies of data aroun…

So everything's working?
-
Okay, that's helpful. I should be able to use that information to build a test that replicates what happens in your document. I probably won't get to this until the weekend, but I'll take a look. Send a reminder to this thread if you don't year anyt…

Do you see the Zotero menus and things in Spanish?
-
It might have something to do with locales. The style is generic. Are you running Zotero with a Spanish locale? If so, I'll set up some tests on that basis and see if I can reproduce the fault.
-
That's how to get them into Zotero. When you do the merge, though, the multilingual data in the imported items will be ignored. I can take a look at making that work this weekend if that will help.
-
So when you use the Nature style, you always get this fault?
-
@adamsmith: Not sure. I wasn't able to reproduce that one, and I don't have an idea about a potential cause.
-
Oh, wait. So the problem with the question mark has cleared up for you?
-
Ah, superscripting. This may just be due to a font encoding issue. I'll try to take a look later in the week. Give me a nudge if you done hear something by Friday.
-
In the left panel, do you see a "Duplicate Items" folder?
-
It will be like last time, unfortunately, but without the bugs in other places. The latest multilingual client includes the duplicates detection code from version 3.0, built by the core team. It's slicker than what you used before, and also preserve…

I'll take a look later this week. Offhand, the most likely culprit is previewing. To preview entries, we pull out and reinsert portions of the processor internal registry, to preserve state. There is a lot of fine-grained data involved, and it could…
